Evaluation
Explore
I have decided to create a series of photographs which reveal the comparison between Urban parts of chislehurst and Rural parts of Chislehurst. Prior to the evaluation, I travelled around Chislehurst to find Key places which resemble the countryside, and the city.
When editing my photographs, I didn’t want to make a huge difference using editing tools, however wanted to bring a certain mood within the sequences to create a similar tone. So I decided to change the Urban photographs into monochrome in order to focus on the form and structure of the vehicles driving past. However for the rural I added a vintage tone to create warmth throughout the images.
What went well
I think that I created two clear series of photographs which resemble either the countryside or the city feel of Chislehurst.
Even better if
I think that I should’ve displayed fewer photographs as some of them are quite similar to other images. Also, I separated the countryside photographs into section based on similarity. To improve I could’ve made each section smaller, so that the viewer could focus on only a couple of images.
Present
My gallery of images consists of two different series. The Urban effect of Chislehurst and the Rural effect. I think by providing two series of similar photographs creates a successful outcome comparison. I think that photographing Chislehurst was quite personal as many neighboring towns do not have both Rural and Urban aspects. Therefore Chislehurst is a traditional and intriguing town which presents a distinct character.
I hope that any viewer who looks at these series of Images, will understand that even towns within commutable distance to busy cities like London can also have Rural charms within the villages.
If I had more time I would’ve liked to try to refine my photographs so that I can present fewer images from each aspect, this allows the viewer to concentrate on a couple of photos instead of a dozen.
